They’re “Trying To Erase History… That’s WRONG!” – Patel Hits Out At Britain’s Statue-Snatchers

HOME Secretary Priti Patel has slammed left-wing groups and protestors seeking to remove statues and rename streets over alleged links to the slave trade.

During an interview with LBC’s Nick Ferrari, the Home Secretary said that she would not take the knee for Black Lives Matter, and opposed current forms of violent and undemocratic protest.

“I did not support the [BLM] protest, and I don’t support the protests that are associated with it” said Patel.

Speaking on the removal and vandalisation of statues, she said: “We saw statues being brought down, some councils making a stance around statues and street names – there are other ways in which those discussions can take place.

“Quite frankly, I don’t support that attempt to rewrite history. I feel that’s wrong” Patel added.

The Home Secretary’s comments come following the announcement of Sadiq Khan’s expensive new ‘taskforce’ formed to ‘review’ statues and street names following calls from BLM supporters to remove any trace or link to the history of the slave trade from Britain.
