A BBC presenter tweeted a vile and shocking barrage of antisemitic abuse, in which she claimed that Adolf Hitler was right in murdering millions of Jews.
Digital journalist Tala Halawa, who works as a Palestine Specialist for the Corporation’s BBC Monitoring service, posted the disgusting comments some years ago on Twitter, yet the tweet, along with others, was only discovered this weekend.

“Israel is more Nazi than Hitler!” said Halawa. “Oh, #HitlerWasRight”.
Miss Halawa, a Palestinian who worked as a journalist in Leeds before moving back to Palestine to start working for the BBC, posted the tweet during the seven-week Gaza War between Israel and Palestine, which saw Israel launch a military operation on the Gaza Strip in response to rocket attacks from the terrorist organisation Hamas.

During the recent unrest this month, Halawa has frequently reported for the BBC live from her home in the city of Ramallah, including starring in a video for BBC Monitoring covering events in Gaza.
A spokesman for the BBC said: “These tweets predate the individual’s employment with the BBC but we are nevertheless taking this very seriously and are investigating.”
