CORBYN Reported To Parliament’s Standards Commissioner Over Failure To Declare Legal Donations

A LABOUR MP has reported former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, Katherine Stone, over an alleged breach of the codes of conduct.

The allegations refer to huge sums of cash that Mr Corbyn, who now sits as an independent after being suspended from the Labour Party, was given by public and private donors to deal with numerous legal battles.

One such case saw the far-left politician lose a court battle to force his party to hand over documents relating to his suspension. And In March of this year, Corbyn also lost an appeal against a High Court decision in a libel fight brought against him by a political blogger.

Mr Corbyn has come under fire over donations towards his legal costs

Yet it doesn’t appear that Mr Corbyn registered the donations used to fight his so-far fruitless legal escapades.

After confirming that he had reported the former Labour leader to the Commissioner via letter, Neil Coyle, Labour MP for Bermondsey and Old Southward, said: “All MPs are expected to follow certain rules and some people seem to think they’re above it.

“We expect it from Boris Johnson with flat refurbishments, childcare and foreign holidays.

“But we cannot attack the Tories if we don’t equally take action when someone who seeks to be a Labour MP is receiving significant financial support and contributions, and not declaring it.”

Taking to Twitter, Coyle again compared Mr Corbyn to the allegations of failing to declare donations levelled against the Prime Minister, writing: “The Independent MP Corbyn appears to have done the same off wealthy Left pals. The excuseniks are out in force (again…) but no one is above the rules.”

Mr Corbyn has not issued a statement in response to the complaint against him, but has confirmed that he will be “liaising with the commissioner”.
