Councillor Charged With Attempted Murder

A Councillor from Bridgend in Wales has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident involving a female victim.
Police officers were dispatched to a report of a major nighttime assault this week in Tairfelin, Wildmill, following which a woman was transported to a nearby hospital and Cllr. Darren Brown was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
However, the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales has ruled that because no one, including the council to which Darren Brown belongs, has filed a complaint, no regulatory action can be yet be taken against him.
Detective Inspector Owain Morrison expressed gratitude to the community in Wildmill for their support during the investigation. He also encouraged individuals with any information pertaining to the incident to step forward, quoting reference number 2300229643.
34-year-old Brown is one of 17 Independent members of Bridgend Town Council.
In a statement relating to the incident, Detective Inspector Morrison said, “The investigation is in its early stages to establish the circumstances around the incident, and we would encourage the community not to speculate.”
