LOVERS TIFF: Extinction Rebellion Vandalise Labour Headquarters Over Vote On Climate Bill

EXTINCTION Rebellion activists have vandalised the headquarters of the Labour Party in Cambridge, in protest of the party not voting how Extinction Rebellion wanted them to.

Extinction Rebellion demonstrators from Cambridge proudly announced their vandalism on social media after throwing green paint over the Cambridge Labour Party’s headquarters in protest against councillors rejecting support for the Climate & Ecological Emergency (CEE) Bill.

Paint was thrown over numerous parts of the building

The paint was childishly tossed over the party’s Alex Wood Hall HQ, with XR goons also spray-painting the message: “Climate Inaction is Social Injustice”.

XR said their reasoning for the ‘attack’ was because every Labour councillor present at the Cambridge council’s recent vote on a motion in support of the CEE Bill (a Parliamentary bill that would force the UK to take responsibility for its entire carbon footprint) rejected support for it.

Graffitti was written on the office’s front doors

The Labour group have a majority on the council, meaning that they could have stopped the original motion from passing – yet, being a council and not national government – would have had little to no influence over the parliamentary bill anyway.

After the vandalism, one XR activist said: “By failing to respond proportionately to the climate and ecological emergency, Labour have shown their lack of interest in the causes of social and global justice.

“Climate breakdown is already harming the most vulnerable, locally and globally. We need to see real action – not just more meaningless individual change initiatives.”

So far, no arrests have been reported.
