According to reports, a small group of 30 friends and family witnessed the nuptials after receiving last-minute invites; with Carrie Symonds walking down the aisle to classical music.

With the busy London cathedral being cleared of visitors and closed-off at around 1:30pm, a limo carrying Symonds, who was wearing a white dress but no veil, arrived half-an-hour later.

The ceremony was carried out by Father Daniel Humphreys, who baptised their one-year-old son Wilfred last year.

Mr Johnson is now the first Prime Minister to marry in office since Lord Liverpool married Mary Chester in 1822.
